Grants Manager

The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami seeks an experienced Grants Manager to oversee the museum’s portfolio of current and prospective grant funders to meet annual foundation and government revenue goals. Through research, cultivation, proposal writing, grant management, reporting, and stewardship, they will secure essential funding to support the museum’s exhibitions, education and public programs, community engagement efforts, general operating needs, and strategic initiatives. The position reports to the Director of Development and collaborates closely with other departments to execute high quality proposals and ensure grant compliance.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Work with the Director of Development to create an annual strategy to secure foundation and government grants to meet annual fundraising goals.
  • Manage a portfolio of new and existing grant funders, maintaining positive funder relations.
  • Research and identify new sources of grant revenue in conjunction with institutional priorities.
  • Write and submit high quality letters of inquiry, proposals, and other application materials to secure competitive local, state, and national grant awards.
  • With approval from the Deputy Director, complete organizational budgets and liaise with project directors and other departments as needed to to submit project budgets that meet funder guidelines.
  • Execute contracts and project restatements to funders as necessary.
  • Work with project directors to ensure grant-funded projects are on-track and that obligations are fulfilled within the terms of the grant agreement.
  • Manage annual grants calendar to ensure timely submission of applications, contracts, reports, and funder communications.
  • Track progress toward annual grant goals, maintain grants management system, and prepare monthly reports.
  • Ensure funders are acknowledged in accordance with the terms of the grant agreement.
  • Ensure physical and digital grant files are accurate and up-to-date, including funder records in the museum’s CRM database, Altru.
  • Attend in-person and online grant meetings, panels, and webinars.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of local, state, and national foundation and government funders, landscape, and trends.
  • Demonstrated success securing local, state, and national grants to meet annual fundraising goals, including new sources of funding.
  • Proven track record managing a robust annual grants calendar
  • Ability to write clearly, succinctly, and persuasively.
  • Strong editing skills.
  • Integrity, strong work ethic, initiative, results-driven, positive attitude, problem-solver.
  • Capable of working well under pressure, multi-tasking, and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and in an atmosphere of continual growth,
  • and rapid change.
  • Maturity and discretion.

Requirements:

  • Minimum two years of professional non-profit grant writing experience.
  • Experience using grant research tools and management systems.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with funders.
  • Experience communicating with funders on the phone, via email, and in-person.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience building and manipulating budgets.
  • Ability to learn new skills and tools quickly and proficiently.

Desired:

  • Experience working in an arts/cultural setting, preferably in South Florida.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and Altru/other CRM database.
  • Experience using GrantHub or Monday.com for grants management.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole.

This is a full-time, salaried position that requires limited early morning, late evening and weekend hours as necessary, especially during periods of high volume (Miami Art Week, exhibition openings, etc.). A level 2 background check will be required upon the offer of employment.

Reports to: Director of Development

Supervises: Contracted Art Handlers, Interns

Compensation: Salary starting at $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience and including an excellent benefits package.
